Julie Calvo Bowman
Julie Calvo Bowman received her musical training at California State University at Northridge. While at CSUN Ms. Bowman was a student of Kathy “Kath” Robison, Kim Gilad, Carolyn Hove and served as the CSUN Symphony English Horn Soloist.
She is a fellow of the Texas Musical Festival Summer 2001, under the baton of Klause-Peter Seibel and Carl St. Claire again serving as the festivals English Horn soloist. That same summer Julie attended the Rome Festival in Rome, Italy again sitting as English Horn soloist.
Since that Summer Julie has performed regularly with The Antelope Valley Symphony, the Bakersfield Symphony, served as acting Princpal oboist for the Helena Symphony (MT) and currently the Principal oboist with The Andromeda Electric Orchestra She is oboist in residence with the St. Francis Choir in Sherman Oaks as well as countless substitute positions, casual dates and gigs all over Southern California.
Ms Bowman is known her beautiful sound, musical phrasing, and unparalleled work ethic.
With her copious free time she founded and runs, nearly singled handedly a small non profit that provides inexpensive Recoder, keyboard and guitar lessons at Chandler Elementary school with hopes of expanding the program to other public schools in the San Fernando Valley.
Julie resides in Sherman Oaks, where she is an avid gardener-growing roses from cane clippings and irrigating them with recycled water. She is married to the love of her life, Patrick Bowman, and has a beautiful son, named David.
